Clara Haberkamp

"Clara Haberkamp — one of the most unique pianists on the German jazz scene." (Odilo Clausnitzer, Deutschlandfunk).
Sophisticated melodies meet unimaginable improvisation. When Clara goes on tour, she always takes her Privia piano with her for rehearsals.

Pianist, composer and singer Clara Haberkamp lives in Berlin.
Even during her studies at the Jazz Institute Berlin and Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, her tours were already taking her to Southeast Asia, Malta, Israel and Estonia.

After winning the newcomer award at the Jazz Baltica festival in 2011, she released her first CD ("Nicht rot, nicht weiß, nicht blau" [Not red, not white, not blue]) with the Clara Haberkamp Trio. In the years that followed, she recorded three more albums with the Trio and as a solo artist. The Trio was nominated in the "Newcomer" category at the ECHO Jazz awards in 2017 for their album entitled "Orange Blossom" (Traumton Records, Berlin), and the Trio's latest album, "Neon Hill", was the subject of the cover story in JAZZTHETIK magazine.

Haberkamp is a member of the "David Friedman Generations Quartet", with whom she has already released two albums as a pianist. In 2017, she founded a trio with bassist Lisa Wulff and saxophonist Annalena Schnabel, which is now a duo called CANDOUR (Haberkamp/Wulff). Playing with the trio and subsequently the duo, Haberkamp has performed at Jazzfest Bonn, for the ECHO television broadcast in 2017 and at the Rolf Liebermann Studio, which belongs to German broadcaster NDR.

Clara Haberkamp lectures on jazz improvisation at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre, and teaches improvised song accompaniment at Berlin University of the Arts.
