TECHNOLOGY

Ever since the first digital pianos were developed, instrument manufacturers have been striving to design and make an electronic instrument that emulates the playing experience of a real concert piano. The next chapter in the history of the piano has been written by the revolutionary CASIO Grand Hybrid pianos.

These new digital pianos include sounds of the three most famous concert pianos, a keyboard system based on the same materials and dynamic actions of a concert grand piano, and a sound system that delivers the rich sound quality and broad spectrum of an acoustic piano. The only place to find this perfect combination of acoustic and digital technologies is in the CASIO CELVIANO Grand Hybrid.

MULTI-DIMENSIONAL MORPHING

CASIO multidimensional morphing technology creates natural and smooth transitions in volume and tone based on the touch response and sound duration.

ACOUSTIC SIMULATOR

Resonance System

The acoustic simulator reproduces the resonance of the strings as well as the entire sound body of a concert grand piano.

Hammer Response

On a concert grand piano, struck notes sound with a slight time offset depending on which key position is played. Thanks to Hammer Response, this characteristic is authentically reproduced.

Key Off Simulator

The length of a decay depends, among other things, on the speed with which the piano player releases a key after striking it. In a similar way, the key-off simulator controls the length of the sounds based on the way in which a key is released.

Action Sound System

A concert grand piano generates different types of mechanical sounds, which are an important part of the overall sound. With the Action Sound System, these sound components are reproduced realistically.

LOSSLESS AUDIO COMPRESSION

The advanced Lossless Audio compression process allows the recorded acoustic samples of grand piano sounds and other instruments to be reproduced in their original quality.

CASIO Hybrid Pianos incorporate sounds from three world-famous concert grand pianos. One of them—Berlin Grand—was developed in cooperation with C. Bechstein.

SOUND

GRAND ACOUSTIC SYSTEM

IMPROVEMENTS IN THE NEW GENERATION OF GRAND HYBRID INSTRUMENTS:

  • Improved sound due to the newly developed speakers with excellent bass response
  • Improved dynamics in low, mid and high frequency ranges
  • Automatic adjustment of the tonal balance based on the volume of the performance

②   Spatial sound that incorporates the wooden keyboard base when sound propagates through the instrument cabinet — just like an acoustic grand piano

KEYBOARD

NATURAL GRAND HAMMER ACTION KEYBOARD

The "Natural Grand Hammer Action" keyboard concept combines an exceptional hammer action with premium materials that provide a playing feel that is virtually indistinguishable from a grand piano keyboard. The high-quality wood for the precision-crafted keys is carefully selected and processed.

IMPROVEMENTS IN THE NEW GENERATION OF GRAND HYBRID INSTRUMENTS:

  • Improved touch sensitivity for higher dynamic resolution and improved realisation of the sound characteristics of the notes played
  • Improved expressiveness when playing pianissimo

Resonance System

The keyboard mechanism of CELVIANO Grand Hybrid models is a new CASIO development, which includes a hammer action derived from concert pianos as well as three sensors per key that accurately measure and reproduce the intensity of key strike.

Hammer Response

Similar surface materials to those of modern concert pianos are used.

Key Off Simulator

The fulcrums are positioned in relation to the keys in exactly the same way as on a concert piano.
