CASIO Hybrid digital pianos — Welcome to the premium class

CASIO presents a wide range of digital pianos in its assortment. The range extends from typical entry-level instruments of the CELVIANOPRIVIA and COMPACT series, which have found a permanent place in music schools, homes and on stages, to digital pianos for the rigors of everyday stage and rehearsal use, and even premium-class digital pianos in the form of the CASIO Hybrid digital pianos. Hybrid pianos represent the best of both worlds. They combine the advantages of acoustic instruments with those of modern digital sound generation in one instrument. With the CELVIANO Grand Hybrid series, CASIO is targeting discerning music lovers and professional pianists.

Top models from the Hybrid Piano Collection such as the CASIO GP-510 offer a sound character that one only expects from high-quality concert grand pianos. There is a reason for this, because the instruments from the CELVIANO Grand Hybrid series were created in close cooperation with the renowned Berlin piano and grand piano manufacturer C. Bechstein. The small brass plate with the engraving "Developed in collaboration with C. Bechstein" is testament to a combination of 40 years of experience in the field of electronic pianos and keyboard instruments and 160 years of experience in piano manufacturing. This has resulted in instruments that cater to the highest demands, which are backed by even world-class pianists.

What does a hybrid piano from CASIO offer?

Hybrid pianos combine the authenticity of a classical grand piano with the innovative technologies of a modern digital piano. As is common with a hybrid grand or hybrid upright piano, CASIO Hybrid digital pianos feature a true hammer action that, along with the wooden keys, gives the pianist the feeling of playing on an acoustic grand piano.

Hybrid pianos from CASIO impress with acoustic excellence and offer a thrilling top-class sound experience. A dedicated speaker system developed by CASIO called the Grand Acoustic System simulates the dispersion characteristics of the top and bottom of the soundboard, mimicking the acoustic behaviour of a concert grand piano. A variable piano lid further strengthens the impression.

Innovative technologies ensure impressive sound

Combined with outstanding digital features, the premium hybrid pianos of the CELVIANO Grand Hybrid Serie offer an unparalleled sound experience. Among other features, the CELVIANO Grand Hybrid features the AiR Grand Sound Source sound generation system, which is based on CASIO's latest sound technologies and includes multi-dimensional morphing technology and an acoustic simulator. Added to this are outstanding digital effects. This makes it possible to add a wide variety of sound corrections and effects at the push of a button.

If you want to play with an orchestra, you can make use of the Concert Play function, which provides the pianist with 15 high-quality live recordings of an orchestra to play along with. An extensive music library, various scenes and presets, and the ability to connect the instrument to a PC or digital recording devices via a MIDI interface round out the range of CASIO Hybrid digital pianos.

With a CASIO hybrid digital piano, you'll be acquiring an instrument that will win you over in every respect. Use our dealer search on CASIO Music and find a CASIO dealer near you. Digital pianos with hammer action: Just like playing a concert grand piano

Digital pianos and electric pianos from CASIO are among the most popular keyboard instruments among beginners and professionals alike. The reason for this popularity lies not only in their fine workmanship, the abundance of sounds and effects, and the multitude of technical innovations with which CASIO instruments are equipped; above all, it is the liveliness of the sound and the natural feel that digital pianos and CASIO digital pianos convey. This is especially true of digital pianos with hammer action.

The electric pianos with hammer action use a special weighted 88-key keyboard with scaled hammer action. This was developed to give the player the most authentic playing feel possible. The playing feel on a hammer-action digital piano is very close to that of a real piano or grand piano.

How does a hammer-action digital piano work?

The action of a classical piano or grand piano is based on a tried-and-tested concept. When one of the 88 piano keys is pressed, a small hammer is struck against its assigned side. By striking the keys with varying force, louder or softer tones can be produced in this way. This allows for a lively and dynamic arrangement of musical pieces. Due to the time delay between the keystroke and the sounding of the string, as well as the different size and mass of the individual hammer heads, the instruments have a "playing feel" that is particularly unique. This playing feel can be simulated on digital pianos and other electronic keyboard instruments, such as keyboards, with the help of the hammer action.

For this purpose, the scaled hammer-action keyboard with 88 velocity-sensitive keys is modelled on the keyboard of a concert grand piano. The special "hammer response" technology developed by CASIO reproduces the complex mechanical characteristics of an acoustic instrument in detail and gives the player a realistic touch response.

Scaled hammer action — not just for premium digital pianos

Keyboards with hammer action are not just finding their way into the premium class: Many of CASIO's inexpensive entry-level keyboards and digital pianos are also equipped with hammer-action keyboards.

Within the digital piano range, scaled hammer-action keyboards with touch-sensitive keys are basically standard at CASIO. Compact digital pianos for beginners and ambitious hobby musicians, CASIO PRIVIA digital pianos for stage and studio, and many models in the CASIO CELVIANO series feature keyboards with this technology. Some models of the CASIO PRIVIA and CELVIANO digital pianos are already equipped with the scaled hammer action II. This further development of the CASIO hammer action technology uses weighted hammers. The hammers of these instruments have a specific weight, depending on the octave position. This decreases from the lower to the higher notes, which provides an even more realistic playing feel.

Grand Hybrid digital pianos with natural grand hammer action

With the CELVIANO Grand Hybrid digital pianos, which were developed in cooperation with the renowned piano maker C. Bechstein, CASIO presents hammer-action digital pianos of the highest class. The keyboard mechanism of these particularly high-quality instruments is a CASIO innovation. Together with the Grand Pedal System, which continuously senses pedal positions to allow precise damper pedal metering and thus good control over the duration and volume of the sounds, the result is a playing feel similar to that of the world's finest concert grand pianos. This means that CELVIANO hammer-action digital pianos, such as the Grand Hybrid, satisfy even the highest demands of pampered music lovers.
